The volunteers in there that help these women are comforting them in there time of need and they told us that at the end of the day when they walk through the door you leave your cases in the room don't take them home with you and dread about it otherwise you can never do the job.Īfter, we then got to go in an actually court room! with a real judge! most intimidating part of the whole outing. one of the things we learnt was that most of the time when someone files a complaint about the person abusing them they often back out because of fear, there children, pets, the abuser may say there sorry there's 100s of excuses and the staff there try to stop that by making the domestic violence cases go as quick as they can.Īfter we gathered as much information as we could we then went to something called the "safe room" were the women who are going against there abusers can sit there in safety and comfort knowing nothing will happen to them while there in there. He took us to meet up with the employee's of the court lawyer's, police prosecutors (women), volunteers in the domestic violence field and secretary's were all there happy to exchange information with us.

While trying not to laugh or smile because the people around us were there for series reason's and we didn't want to show disrespect, we finally met with a very highly respected lawyer, Mr Kevin Pearce who would show us around and tell us more information to help with our understanding of domestic violence. Once in we had to wait in the lobby on green chairs surrounded by people who really did need to go to court.
